Corban Lundborg met Anele Morris while living in a park in North Hollywood, California. He was an artist touring the country in a van. Anele Morris is a South African actress who at the time was near complete with a student visa. They met at a coffee shop, talked, exchanged contacts and went separate ways.
Corban is an Air Force Reserve photojournalist assigned to the 4th Combat Camera Squadron out of Charleston, South Carolina. He had a 3-week assignment in Okinawa, Japan working with a special forces unit the day after meeting Anele. Corban couldn’t stop thinking about Anele and their conversation while out of country working.
Upon completing his assignment in Japan, Corban returned to the states and called Anele to ask if he could fly back to Los Angeles and spend more time with her. The two started dating during that trip. Shortly after, her visa expired and Anele had to move back to Cape Town, South Africa. Corban put art life on hold for a couple months and moved with her.
She was approved for an O-1 artist visa and they moved back to Hollywood together where they currently pursue their creative gifts.
Corban and Anele took a week off of work to drive down to San Diego to visit Corban’s family for Thanksgiving.
They left Southern California after Thanksgiving and kicked off a week long camping trip through Arizona. Their final stop on the camping trip was The Grand Canyon.
Corban wanted to ask Anele to marry him on the cliffside of the canyon during sunset on their last night but he was losing sunlight fast. The two escaped from the other tourists and found a beautiful place to catch the sunset together. He asked her to stand in front of the camera so he could take a picture. The camera was secretly recording and he dropped to a knee and asked her to marry him.
She said YES.
Corban and Anele have plans to partake in a traditional Xhosa wedding in South Africa in the Fall of 2018.
